Stratus - Parachute Deployment

Stratus is a cutting-edge parachute deployment system. It is a compact, configurable parachute deployment controller designed for use in drones and other UAV's. Once the user designed fall threshold is reached, Stratus will actuate a servo to deploy a parachute. It also logs flight data to an SD card, which can be used for post-flight analysis.

๐Ÿš€ How It Worksโ€‹

  1. Stratus poweres on and initializes sensors and the SD card.
  2. A ToF sensor measures whether the board is connected to a drone.
  3. Once released, the board will set a calibration height based on the release altitude.
    • The board will continously measure the altitude using a barometer as it descends.
  4. Once the deployment threshold is reached, the board will actuate a servo to deploy the parachute.

Relevant flight data is logged to an SD card for post-flight analysis.

Always test with a safe load and in an open environment. Ensure the parachute is securely attached to the drone and that the servo is functioning correctly before flight.
